Renée McRae is a Poet, Author, Certified Success Coach and Self-Development Trainer.  

Founder and CEO of Poetic Motivations, LLC, a personal and professional development training company, Renée McRae delivers programs that focus on self exploration and navigating to a place called SUCCESS!  A believer in living life deliberately and dedicated to the field of personal transformation, Renée spends her time in schools and organizations around the country facilitating programs which uniquely fuse the art of writing poetry with self discovery, self understanding and enabling self-determination. 

Co-author of “Stepping Stones to Success” alongside Deepak Chopra, Jack Canfield and others, Renée contributed “Awaken to the Power Within,” an in-depth chapter expounding on the innate power we each possess to determine our own destinies.  Her latest book, co-authored with Les Brown and others, “Mastering the Art of Success,” contains her chapter, “The Key is Self Mastery” and will be available in March, 2013.  Renée McRae’s first book, “Truth in Rhyme,” an approved textbook with NYC Dept. of Education, has been used by teachers in their classrooms to encourage, inspire and reinforce self-esteem and life skills through poetry.  Her award-winning transformational poetry has been published in several magazines, anthologies, and is available on her CD titled “Truth Be Told!”

BLACK FANTASTIC

An aching boredom and uninventive cloud hangs above Suburbia, secretly yearning for someone to break out, to stand alone. A distance from the big city, as well as diversity and expression, such a lack of makes it difficult for one to find creativity, to capture individuality. In the case of Hip Hop meets Jazz meets Soul duo, Black Fantastic, this challenging task represents everything they stand for.

After a chance meeting at a Joliet, Illinois recording studio, these Chicago suburb natives both noticed a unique connection within each other, weaving a creative union from that moment on. Jacque, an eternal lover of the timeless brilliance of jazz, serves as the scratchy-soulful, emotionally driven songstress of the group, while Roman, a former photographer and once upon a time college kid, takes his place as the smoothly relatable lyricist meets experimental producer. As their musical influences soar from Ella Fitzgerald to J Dilla, Black Fantastic is creatively moved by it all.The determination and ambition of Black Fantastic radiates through their work, sending a comforting vibe that they want others to simply, believe. Black Fantastic turn their realities into music, in hopes of connecting with the same stories and struggles we all seem to face. Taking pride in being no one other than who they are while working to stamp their own place in history, they proudly have their eyes set on nothing lower than up.

TANYA FIELDS

Inspired by her experiences as a single working mother living in a marginalized community, Tanya Fields founded the BLK ProjeK in 2009 as a response to sexist institutional policies, structurally reinforced cycles of poverty, and harsh inequities in wealth and access to capital that result in far too many women being unable to rise out of poverty and sustain their families. The group was nominated for a 2011 Union Square Award and Tanya has the honor of being a  Green for All Fellows, through which she connects with a national cohort of environmental justice change agents. With a Bachelor’s in Political Science from Baruch College, and a talent for public speaking, blogging and singing, Tanya has become a sought after speaker.  She provided a widely praised keynote speech at the 2012 Just Food conference, and served as a plenary panelist for the 2011 conference of the Northeast Sustainable Agriculture Working Group. Previous to the BLK ProjeK, Tanya worked with several high profile environmental organizations located in the South Bronx - Mothers on the Move, Sustainable South Bronx and the Majora Carter Group.  Tanya built upon the network, skills, resources and knowledge she gained through those experiences to create the BLK ProjeK. She is a reputed and rising public speaker and educator. She has spoken, conducted workshops and participated on panels at Just Food Annual Conference, NOFA NY Winter Conference, Manhattanville College, Kingsboro College, Brooklyn Food Coalition, NEWSAWG and others. She currently writes a twice monthly column on food and food justice for EBONY.com and contributed a chapter for the book "The Next Eco-Warriors" by Emily Hunter

AMANDA HOLLEY

Songstress, Amanda Holley has one true love and that is music relying from a

very young age on it’s strength to develop into the consummate musician and vocalist

she continues to aspire to be. Amanda engrossed herself in music day in and

day out, surviving on Whitney, Mariah, Aretha, Ella, and Billie's healing

and inspiring vocals. She first began performing at local events for hundreds

of people in her small NJ town at the age of 8, astonishing audiences with her soul,

maturity of voice and her connection to the lyrics of songs. As a teenager, Amanda

even performed with the world renowned Les Paul at the jazz hot-spot, Iridium.

As a singer and songwriter, Ms. Holley has recently collaborated for her upcoming

project with award winning songwriters and producers Rob Fusari, Andy Marvel,

Andre Fennell, Pam Sheyne, and Nikki Gregoroff to name a few.

Amanda states, "Music is who I am. I never woke up and decided to be a singer - I

always have been and always will be. I eat, sleep, and BREATHE music. I cannot

wait to share my story of tragedy and overcoming hardships. Through strength, hope,

and LOVE I want to aspire others with my music!"

HOMEBOY SANDMAN 

Homeboy Sandman is a musician. His genre is hip-hop. An emcee that prides himself on musical growth and evolution, he has adopted as his motto and creative mission statement, "Boy Sand like you've never seen him before. As usual."

Raised in Queens NY. Academic stints in New Hampshire, Philadelphia, London and Long Island. One semester short on two different graduate degrees. A couple of years of NYC Public School teaching thrown in there in between. 9th and 10th grades. Some bartending too, at the legendary Lennox Lounge in Harlem. That's where Shaft used to drink.

December 2006 he decides to cut all that miscellaneous nonsense and follow his passion. His first album came the following year.

Before signing to Stones Throw he'd already been chosen as a coach on MTV's MADE, featured in preeminent print hip-hop rags XXL and The Source, and perpetually championed on foremost online hubs. And since the signing, his accolades have extended beyond the realm of the hip hop specific. Rolling Stone has noted his "skill for wordplay that keeps you hooked." NPR has highlighted his "artful, hysterical, disobedient hip-hop that you can dance to." Pitchfork has straightforwardly dubbed him "one of the best pure lyricists around."

He writes regularly for The Huffington Post, some for Gawker. While most of his writing is music, it appears he'll write wherever a lot of people are looking. If he had an opportunity to give a speech at a huge rally he'd take that too, so more than anything else he just wants to spread the word. Maybe he just wants attention. Attention for being himself though.
