ERIN BARRA & H.I.S.D

If Alicia Keys and Nelly Furtado collided with Daft Punk and Esthero in the vast circuitry of an Akai APC 40, you’d probably end up with an experience as rich and soulful as Erin Barra. Joining the likes of MNDR and Tokimonsta, Erin is part of a brave new digital audio live performance armada of female artists riding a tech savvy wave of musical and electronic innovation. Her incomparable style has been praised by Grammy award-winning legends. Her musical skill and versatility is virtually second to none. Hailing from Salt Lake City, Utah, Erin was reared on her parents’ dusty record collection of AM radio singer/ songwriters James Taylor and Simon & Garfunkel as well as the headier Led Zeppelin and The Doors. And while her parents also fortified this with early piano lessons, the most integral aspect of her musical education was of a more technical nature. Erin entered the Berklee College of Music at the tender age of 18, an experience she likens to Alice being let loose in wonderland. While creating and romping around in wonderland, Erin’s spectacular talent caught the golden ear of John Oates, half of soul/ pop duo Hall & Oates. Erin was paired up with the legendary musician after winning a fiercely competitive songwriting competition. With the advice of Oates in tow, Erin made her move to New York City after graduation with the goal of developing her craft as an artist and live performer. Shortly after, Erin released her impressive debut album Soul Revolutions in 2007. Her unique and mellifluous vocal style eventually landed her a monthly residency at the famed Greenwich Village venue Bitter End. Bookings at the lauded S.O.B.’s as well as Joe’s Pub soon followed. Erin soon began to expand on the art of live performance by putting a 21st century twist on her dad’s ethos of sonic and technological altruism. Utilizing the ground breaking live performance software Ableton in tandem with a host of synthesizers and midi-control surfaces, Erin successfully sets in motion in concert what words could never describe.

Hueston Independent Spit District (H.I.S.D)

There’s a renaissance occurring before your eyes and this crew is right in the middle of it. This group of forward thinking music junkies have come together and formed H.I.S.D. H.I.S.D. was born in 2005 through the collaboration of eight artists of varying mediums wanting to introduce a refreshing perspective to the sound and visual aesthetic of hip hop culture, classic soul music, poetry, visual art, fashion, and photography. Mutual respect and appreciation for the cultural significance and influence achieved by creatively bridging these art forms, brought Savvi (hip hop artist/entrepreneur), Equality (poet/writer/emcee/architect/visual artist), LdaVoice (emcee), Scottie Spitten(emcee), Jason “Flash Gordon Parks” Woods (photographer/DJ), and producers King Midas and E-Classic together to form H.I.S.D under the Peace Uv Mine Entertainment Group umbrella. The group’s projects have gotten co-signs from Questlove of The Roots and Phonte of Little Brother / Foreign Exchange. H.I.S.D. has solidified themselves as a group to watch in the next few years.

ishe + hezekiah are an experimental soulful duo composed of singer/songwriter ishe' from san diego and producer/emcee/songwriter hezekiah from philadelphia. Two unique artists with an unspoken understanding of music provided the perfect ingredients. a mixture of organic classic soul, a slight touch of electronic flourishes; a beautifully-composed sonic stew with a traditional hip hop edge. timeless. for their debut album. her hypnotic & sweet dreamy vocals over his head-knoddin' beats spawn something organic and ultra melodic. together their sound is raw and intimate pretty and gritty unorthodox and out the box with subject matter that covers the spectrum, ranging from social issues, love, drugs, depression, make ups and break ups. This project is something ishe + hezekiah are both proud of.
